One of Hong Kong's more unusual and exciting scenes is the annual sedan chair race, held each autumn around the Peak, as part of the annual Matilda Hospital Fair. It features dozens of teams, serious and not so serious, who have since the race was first held in 1975 raised millions of dollars for charity. The race was the brainchild of Sister Joyce Smith, who organised the Fair for many years, and commemorated Hong Kong's last licensed sedan chair route....from the Peak Tram station to the hospital and back. These pictures are of the victorious "Flasher Hashers" who won on both the short and long race courses for several years, and here are shown the winning teams from 1982 and 1983!
